Changes needed to use pedalSHIELD without switches

Hi,

I am trying to set up the pedalShield without including the diode, button, and switches.

Are there any connections I need to make in order for it to work properly? Or will the shield work properly without them regardless?

Also, how would the code change on the Clean Volume/Booster Pedal without the switches?
