I accidentally broke the 40 pin strip into different segments I have.
2 groups of 4 pins instead of 2 groups of 8
8 pins together
10 pins together
Does it matter? I am planning on laying them out the correct way I just don't have 2 groups of 8 pins together.

Thats not a problem! as far as you fill all the holes it does not matter if you are using 8pins together or two groups of 4pins or even 6pins + 2pins.

It is convenient because it is easier to solder if they are together but if you broke them into different segments, just go ahead and break them.
