There are several ways to automatically launch an effect (program) right after powering Pedal-Pi (Raspberry Pi Zero). This is how I do it but there are others ways to do the same thing, I got the info from here:
https://www.dexterindustries.com/howto/run-a-program-on-your-raspberry-pi-at-startup/

So, the way I do it:
  • I compile the effect I want to use, more info here: Create, Edit and Compile any Code
  • I edit rc.local:
    sudo vim /etc/rc.local
  • and insert the effect I would like to play when powering pedal-pi, in this case the "multi" effect:
    sudo /home/pi/Pedal-Pi-All-Effects/multi &
  • It is done.. I will work, but you can go a bit further; as we explain here: "Reduce Noise in Pedal-Pi" the pedal sounds much better if you disable the wifi, If you use a standard Pi Zero (not W) just unplug the dongle, If you use a W model, check the next step
  • To disable wifi in W Raspberry Pi Zero , the only other thing I can think of is to disable the loading of the drivers as they explain here:
    https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=138610
    edit:
    /etc/modprobe.d/raspi-blacklist.conf
    and insert:
    #wifi
    blacklist brcmfmac
    blacklist brcmutil
    #bt
    blacklist btbcm
    blacklist hci_uart
Done! :)
