Pedal Troubleshooting

5 years 9 months ago #1464 by Essembly
Hey everyone!

Just recently finished soldering the board and tried to use it but only noize came out. Tried multiple things but didn't get any further.

When I check the voltages at 5V its 4.93V and at 2.5V mark it's usually around 0.8V (rarely can get up to 1.8V). The voltages at OpAmp (pin 4 and 8) show 5V.

When I was trying to load soundwave generator, everything works somewhat ok, the board makes the sounds which you can clearly hear on the amp but sometimes it glitches. When I tried to load the Serial Monitor prog ( here ) it didnt work at all: no values change when I press buttons.

Can the problem be with a broken Arduino? Thanks in advance!

Hi Essembly, I guess that you already checked the troubleshooting guide:
www.electrosmash.com/forum/pedalshield-u...alshield-uno?lang=en

at 2.5V mark it's usually around 0.8V

This is wrong, you should get 2.5V, If you have a look at the circuit:
www.electrosmash.com/images/tech/pedalsh...ld-uno-schematic.png
You can see on the bottom left (power supply section), that the 2.5V is generated with a voltage divider (R7 and R8, 100K each). Focus your attention on this area and make sure that you have it working. Maybe you have a cold soldering joint around this resistors, check this out!
